So I watched Jenn’s Let’s Play: Amnesia part 1 video, which was highly entertaining, and she said something that formed a very funny mental image in my head.

Well now that I have your attention.
I don’t actually find Amnesia to be that scary.
The first time I played it I admit to screaming a few times but I never did any of that dramatic OH GOD CLOSE THE GAME TURN ON ALL THE LIGHTS AND FREAK THE FUCK OUT kind of bullshit. It all seems really dramatic and stupid to me, I mean if the game is THAT scary to you, play some happy music, turn on the lights, increase the brightness setting, whatever! Find a way to play it!
I’m honestly tired of people in the Amnesia fandom that have never played the game themselves. Anxiety issues? Well that’s a little different, but why would you be in a horror fandom if you can’t even play the game? No money? Download the demo. If you can AT LEAST play through the demo I’ll give you enough credit.
I mean seriously, I love this game and the fandom to death but I’m tired of hearing that everyone I talk to only watches LPs and is too scared to actually give the game a shot. (Especially since after watching LPs THE WHOLE GAME IS RUINED FOR YOU ANYWAY, so you’d might as well just play it since you know where to go already.)
I want to finally have a conversation with someone and discuss the chill that runs down your spine when a low growl plays through your headphones, or the pure thrill you get from running for your life, closing doors behind you as you whimper quietly to yourself and hope the monsters don’t find you.
But no, every conversation I have with an “Amnesia Fan” involves stupid overused milky way jokes and a bundle of YouTube videos. Pathetic.
